Goodbye #10

For my last, and final post, I am going to give gratitude to all of my friend gods, goddesses, and Monkey King, lets face it, I really do not like Monkey King... at all. I would like to share with you all a little thing I learned from each god or goddess. Thank you to Artemis the Greek goddess of hunting. I never knew that your aunt Hera hated you so much! I also can't believe Freyja the Norse goddess of fertility can shape shift into a falcon. Guan Yin, the Chinese goddess of love and compassion, never leaves anyone behind! She has to really love everyone to help out Monkey King. Hathor, the Egyptian goddess of love, music, dance, motherhood (etc.), is associated with the Milky Way. The Jade Emperor, the Chinese god and ruler of the heavens,  and I have well, lets just say history, so I knew a lot about him, but one thing I didn't know was that he was a sign of good fortune. I finally got to meet Komorkis, the Native American goddess of the moon. She was so delightful and I am really glad she brings the light to the night along with coolness and moisture. Loki the cunning trickster, actually was never born a god! He was a giant that worked his way up to being one. Did you know that the Egyptian goddess of truth, justice, and order; Maat, never gives second chances. I find that pretty crazy. Nut the Egyptian goddess of the sky, is sometimes portrayed as a cow just like Hathor. Pandora, the Greek goddess, who was the first mortal woman. She was only sent down to destroy all of mankind. Raven, the trickster god, also a creator god, was actually pure white but turned black after escaping from a fire and getting colored by the black smoke. Now, Odin, the Norse god of wisdom and death. He has ravens that fly around the world everyday to give him information. Rhea, the the Greek goddess of mountains and wildlife, has lions that pull her chariot. Sekhmet, the goddess of vengeance, war, and healing is actually the other half of Hathor. They are two souls in one body. Thor is the Norse god of thunder, the sky, and fertility. He is the son of Odin and the protector of Asgard. Glispa, is the Native American goddess of healing. One time, Glispa had to sing a song to heal the chief of the tribe, but when that particular song was sang, a different life had to be lost; which is what happened. Balder is the Norse god of light and purity. His brother is Thor and his father is Odin. Which I've never known before, obviously because I am not a part of Norse mythology, thankfully. Chang-e is the Chinese goddess of the moon. Chang-e is very curious and sometimes lets it get he best of her. Thank you for tuning into my blog every night. I will continue to watch my people from Mt. Kunlun. Goodbye for now.

My Myth Retold #9

Sadly, today is the last day I am going to tell my myth! It has been a very great experience for me to re- share one of my favorite stories and memories. Now I am going to recap my myth The Teacher of the Sages, for the last time. One morning, I was in my garden attending to my greatest prize, my peaches. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping and then there he was, emperor Han Wudi, waiting politely at my Turquoise Pond. We had a somewhat delightful talk. He invited my to the Festival of the Sevens. Accepting the invitation, I sent him my white deer to inform him of my advent. On the day the the festival, I gathered up my opulent gift to give to the emperor and set out on my way to the festival. I traveled on my chariot of purple clouds, clothed in seven layers of blue clouds. At the festival, I gave emperor Han Wudi my opulent gift of five immortal peaches. Being the selfish man he was; he had a choice to either nourish the Tao or simply use it injudiciously. Of course, being who he was, he used it unwisely and that was the last I heard of emperor Han Wudi.

Resolution #8

Today's blog is going to be about the resolution of my favorite myth I am very excited to finally give the last little piece of my story. As I gave the peaches to the emperor, knowing that he could either take them and use them wisely, or annihilate himself. In the end of my myth, I leave the Festival of the Sevens and set out on my way back to the Kunlun Mountains, on my chariot of purple clouds. Meanwhile, the emperor indulges himself in bad choices. He was always very selfish, one day I knew he was going to crack.

Climax #7

Hello my dear blogger friends. Today, focusing on my story, yet again, I want to speak about the climax in my story. On accepting my invitation to the Festival of the Double Sevens, I arrived on chariot of purple clouds. I was clothed in seven layers of blue clouds, and I carried five peaches to gift to emperor Han Wudi. The festival was delightful. Han Wudi was very pleased with my gift, and so was I. It is a shame that he was so acquisitive.

Conflict #6

Hello it's Xi Wangmu here again, to talk more about my story, Teacher of the Sages. Today I wanted to focus on the conflict. As you may know I am a peaceful goddess. I like to keep to myself in the heavens. The main conflict in my story was Han Wudi's greed and selfishness with  my peach. I didn't know whether or not to give him the peaches, they could either do wonders for his life, or destroy his life. Obviously, they destroyed his life. As I rode to the Double Sevans festival, I contemplated my decisions and well, I think I chose wisely.

Character Development #5

Back to my story, Teacher of the Sages, the emperor Han Wudi, had invited me to the Double Sevans festival. I sent my white deer to inform him of my advent. Now I do not remember much about what he looked like he was a very tall man. His countenance was quite, self-centered. He was a man of greed.  Anyways, I gifted him five peaches of immortality; he was a smart man, he knew how to get more out of little. He told me that he was going to plant the seeds so he can have more than just five peaches. I laughed in his face, and told him those peaches won't bloom for three thousand more years. I taught him how to nourish the essence, preserve breath, and keep the body whole, but instead he lost himself in carousing and indulgences.

Setting #4

Have you ever heard of the myth, Teacher of the Sages well, it is one that I know quite well, considering it is about me, and of course I was there. It is such a magnificent story that I am going to break it into parts, so that you all ( my readers) can really understand it. For my first post, I am going to focus mainly on the setting. The Taoist religion describes me as a divine teacher and initiator of mystic seekers, and sometimes the ultimate origin of their teachings and practices. . It was such a warm, beautiful day on Kunlun, and  I was tending to my enchanted garden, which smelt very much of plump peaches; when I decided to take a walk past the Turquoise Pond, which was shimmering beautifully in the sun.. My home was quite pretty that day, the sun was out the birds were chirping; as I walked by the emperor was standing solemnly and still,  waiting to speak with me.

Cultural References #3

Xi-Wangmu here again, tonight's blog is a topic I would like to speak about called cultural references. My favorite cultural reference is the old African legend and book, The Toad and the Hare.
In Chinese mythology and the Taoism religion, I have a feminine image, which in this culture associates me with yin energy. I am located in my palace between a tiger and a dragon; yin and yang that represent my transcendence of these two energies. To my left the hare hold my candelabra and a humorous toad dances in front of me. Now you may be asking yourself what does any of this have to do with the Toad and the Hare well, the significance of the hare is:  "Rabbits and hares are obviously excellent fertility symbols (the frogs and toads are also highly fertile as anyone who has collected frogspawn would know)"

The next cultural reference is the writings on the Zhuangzi and possibly mentioned in the oracle bone inscriptions (1500 B.C). Since, I am the only one who knows my beginning and my end, I am said to dwell in the never-never land of the far west. In some writings I am described to be in hybrid form dwelling at the Kunlun summit with other immortals and hybrids.

The last cultural reference I am going to display is the scroll painting of me from which is located at the British museum. This picture depicts me carrying precious immortal peaches. The location of me in this painting is my enchanted garden. This is also depicting me as a character of beauty and grace.

My attributes

I am Xi-Wangmu Queen of the immortals. I live my days on the top of the Kunlun Mountains, with my court, with my husband the Jade Emperor. I can grant the gift of immortality to anyone who worships me. My gift can be very dangerous and very powerful. I am also in charge of the female genies (spirits). Along with my husband and I, I also live with other immortals in the court and also the female genies. I am also described  as one of the honorific female ancestors. I do not have enemies for the most part; I like peace upon my mountain. My peach tree is my greatest treasure. The religion Taoism is the one I am often worshipped in. Remember, those who worship me, will be granted the gift of immortality. In Taoism religion, my peach symbolizes virgin. The fruit stood as a mature woman whose juices were essential to a mans health.

I am Xi- Wangmu

I am Xi- Wangmu, you may also know me as Queen of the Mother West, or Spirit Mother of the West. No one knows my beginning or my end; that is something I prefer to keep to myself. I live in the West of Asia, in the Kunlun Mountains. I am the owner of the beautiful colossal tree, which produces immortal peaches. My tree is also the margin between heaven and Earth. These delectably supple peaches only ripen every 3,000 years. My family well, that is an irrelevant topic at the moment. I do however, love to wear my headdress, which may be known to you, as my victory crown or my ancient Sheng. I also carry my gorgeous staff wherever I go.  My azure birds, bring me berries and other foods upon my mountain pavilion. My birds also accompany me when I descend down to visit my peoples. Remember, I am the only one that can grant you the elixir of immortality.
